A dog is a boy's best friend, and that holds true for Bart and Santa's Little Helper. On a regular weekday, Bart heads off to school, but little does he know, that day was going to be far from regular.

It's a regular weekday morning at the Simpson house and the family is sitting down for breakfast before the children have to head to school. Bart is finished getting ready for school and has a few extra minutes to play with Santa's Little Helper. The school bus arrives and Bart has to leave. Santa's Little Helper waits by the door until Bart returns. When Bart gets on the school bus, he notices something off about Otto (he's blasted out of his mind) and his driving reflects that. Otto drives directly into a brick wall and the bus explodes. The police show up to break the bad news to Homer and Marge. Santa's Little Helper is still waiting. Homer and Marge are broken, and burst out in tears. Some time passes and Santa's Little Helper is still waiting for Bart to return.
