After a long marriage, Marge has had enough of Homer's shennanigans. She has a lapse in judgement and kisses the neighbour. When she tells Homer about the incident, he is enraged and moves forward with the divorce papers.

In a moment of weakness, Marge kisses Ned, Homer's mortal enemy. When Homer finds out, he loses it, he can't look at her, let alone sleep in the same bed as her, so he sleeps on the couch. The next day the anger is still there so Homer goes out to file for divorce. He shoves the papers in Marge's face and happily drives away from that anchor of a family. Marge is heartbroken. A month later, things have turned out amazingly well for Marge, she is dating more and more handsome and rich men, whereas Homer's life fell apart, he is basically a bum now. When Homer shows back up begging Marge to take him back, she laughs at him and slams the door in his face.
